The London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) has a sharp, new look online. The brand new www.ledc.com is a one-stop site for information on London’s economic sectors, business news and industry events. The fully responsive, mobile friendly site was designed and engineered by London’s Inner Geek Inc. in close collaboration with LEDC. About to expand into their new 4,500 square feet space, Inner Geek has experienced explosive growth and is expected to double in size by 2015.
“Building the site from ground up in a completely new format is a huge undertaking. Inner Geek produced a more engaging experience for LEDC’s online audience in less than seven weeks,” said Ashley Conyngham, director of marketing and communications at the LEDC. “Collaborating with the Inner Geek team was an amazing experience.”
The two teams met regularly to ensure seamless teamwork.
“Rather than limiting client interaction to the final feedback phases, we presented our discoveries and challenges on a weekly basis to the LEDC team,” said Inner Geek founder and CEO Colton Hathaway. “This meant that as decisions needed to be made, we were able to hash everything out much more efficiently”
The website complies with the new Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the “two-click” design makes information easily accessible. The site is built using Fuel CMS, allowing the LEDC staff to update content efficiently. Close attention to analytics tools and measurement ensures LEDC is reaching the right audience online.
LEDC’s Business Directory is better than ever before. Users can now search the directory by keyword, company name, NAICS code and postal code. The directory can be downloaded in a .CSV format. The new format also allows users to add their businesses directly to the site.
Sector specific information —about food processing, life sciences, manufacturing and digital creative — is available on dedicated pages and is clearly laid out in point format. The site contains information about the growing entrepreneurship sector to further support home grown talent. The sector pages also showcase LEDC’s new ad campaign featuring outstanding businesses in London. Watch out for these advertisements in print publications soon!
