Western rated best student experience for 10th year

For the 10th year in a row, The University of Western Ontario received top marks in the category “Most Satisfied Students” in The Globe and Mail’s annual Canadian University Report. In a survey of more than 33,000 undergraduate students, The Globe and Mail gave Western the only ‘A-’ grade in that category, among large universities (more than 22,000 students).

Results of the 2012 Canadian University Report were published in a supplement distributed this morning in The Globe and Mail. Of the 19 categories published, Western ranked first in eight (8) categories including Quality of Teaching and Learning and Campus Atmosphere. Western also tied for first in six (6), tied for second in three (3) and tied for third in two (2).

Western President Amit Chakma provided a “candid opinion” of the Canadian University Report to The Globe and Mail, which was shared with readers in the introduction.

“In academic research, we consider peer-reviewed studies to be among the most relevant. Similarly, a survey that allows students to review their university experience provides a valuable measure for prospective students contemplating one of the biggest decisions of their lives.”
