Media Advisory for Wednesday, May 17 The University of Western Ontario contributes more than $1.5 billion to the local economy each year. About $200 million in goods, services and construction are purchased annually, representing more than 120,000 transactions. Area businesses are invited to attend an “Open for Business” Information Forum where they can learn about purchasing at Western, and how they can do business with the University. WHAT: “Open for Business” Information Forum WHEN: Wednesday, May 17 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (open house format) WHERE: The Great Hall, Somerville House The University of Western Ontario (campus map at www.uwo.ca/maps/) Admission and parking (in the Weldon Library, Alumni Hall, and Springett lots) are free, and refreshments will be provided. Registration is NOT required. In an effort to improve accessibility and interaction between the business community and the University, Western is also launching a new free web service called WEsternBUYS (www.westernbuys.uwo.ca) on May 17. All Requests for Proposals, Quotations and Information (RFP, RFQ and RFI) opportunities at Western will be posted here, and suppliers can access the site at no charge.
